Tests are one of the biggest stressors of high school students. What if someone told you they weren't so stressful after all? Following these simple steps will help decrease stress levels and increase test scores.

To start off, provide enough time to study. There's nothing more stressful than cramming the night before the test. It's widely accepted that this is not the best way to approach the exam. When you find out when your important test is scheduled a day where you start to study. Aim for a couple of weeks before the test (depending on how important the test is and how much you need to study). This way you can progress into studying everything you need to know.

Make sure that you organize yourself. Study one unit at a time. If you are constantly all over the place it won't be as helpful if you take a step back and find out in what order you want to study that subject. Before you start studying make a schedule. This way you can be productive every day and make your way towards the test.

When it comes to studying there is so many ways to relearn and review information. Experts and teachers all recommend one of the best ways is to look at old tests. This way you can see what you did well on and what you need to take more time looking at. But don't JUST look. Try redoing the problem and seeing that if you understand what you were doing wrong and know how to improve for the next time. Maybe the same question will be on the test!

Study groups can be beneficial. Some people work better in groups and some work better alone. Both are okay and there are ways to study for both.

But it is helpful to study with a friend or a group of friends. Maybe they know something you don't understand. This way you can help each other out.

Another huge tip that all students need to know is to study in intervals. Although you may feel productive sitting down to study for hours it is a proven fact that it's not the best way to review or get to know the information. Studying in intervals keeps attention span up. It's recommended to study for 20 minutes and 10 minutes off. Many vary numbers to fit what is best suited for them.

The last tip is to not cram the day before the test especially that night. For a big test, you are going to know everything you need to know the day before. Though reviewing will help don't study and stress yourself out. The night before relax and do something that you enjoy. Eating well and getting plenty of sleep will help you perform the best you can.

Overall following these steps will help you get the best grade possible. Tests are a part of a young person's life so it is important to know how to study for them the right way. Remember any type of studying is better than not studying at all.
