Should Teacher Carry Guns?

If a teacher has possession of a firearm in a school building, they might be able to keep the students safer. If teachers carry guns some students might feel safer because the police take some time to get to the school and when they get there they can't get into the school immediately, so teachers having guns can mean that they can defend themselves better than they originally could.

However, the gun itself could be a threat to everyone if it gets into the wrong hands. Any student who knows where it is could end up using it against everyone else. Even a teacher could end up using it against the students or other staff members. Additionally, providing guns to each teacher could take away from funds to different school programs. If they don't know how to use guns safely, teachers can cause more harm than good. This long debated topic has drastically divided people. The stance you take on this topic is ultimately up to you.
